Full Story
Google Pixel users on Android 14 have been experiencing a storage bug that is affecting devices with multiple user profiles. The bug has caused some devices to repeatedly reboot and has raised concerns about data loss when applying the latest software patch. The issue was specifically affecting Tensor-powered Pixels such as the Pixel 6 and newer. A “test” fix was initially issued before a general fix was included with the November security patch. The bug presented a “Download failed” or “Device out of storage” error when attempting to take a picture, access a file, or install and uninstall apps. This problem primarily affected secondary accounts and caused many devices to be stuck in a reboot loop. A “test” fix was made available to some users through a Google Form, but it did not solve the issue for devices that were constantly rebooting. Google has suggested working with Pixel Support to get assistance with the install or to repair the Pixel by visiting the Pixel Repair Tool website for their respective carrier. Users who previously submitted the Google form to receive the test fix with the November Update will receive an email from Pixel Support with instructions on how to recover their data. The process is the same as the specialized solution available through the repair tool.
