Full Story

Fitbit users who have been holding off on migrating to Google accounts may want to reconsider their decision. While there was initially a grace period until 2025 for users to transition and maintain their data, this does not apply to the new Fitbit-integrated devices released this year, including the Fitbit Charge 6 and the Pixel Watch 2. This marks the first time that Google has required a Google account for Fitbit features on its own products.

Google’s push to integrate Fitbit into its ecosystem mirrors its strategy with Nest. As a result, Fitbit and Pixel Watch users are advised to migrate sooner rather than later. To do so, simply go to the Fitbit app, tap on your profile picture, select “Move account,” and then follow the prompts to link your Fitbit account with your Google account. After completing this process, you can continue using your Fitbit devices and services as usual, but you will need to log in to the Fitbit app and website using your Google account.

This move indicates that Google is committed to fully integrating Fitbit into its platform. It is important for users to be aware of these changes and take the necessary steps to migrate their accounts in order to seamlessly access Fitbit features in the future.
