Google has made a significant change to its camera app for Pixel devices. The app, previously named Google Camera, has now been renamed Pixel Camera on the Google Play Store. As reported by 9to5Google, the app’s listing in the store has also been updated to reflect this change. The updated listing emphasizes the new features available with the renamed app, such as Portrait Mode, Night Sight, Time Lapse, and Cinematic Blur.

One of the major updates included in the new version of Pixel Camera is a redesigned user interface. The UI now features separate photo and video buttons at the bottom of the screen, making it easier for users to switch between different modes. This change replaces the previous carousel design and streamlines the camera experience.

In addition to the UI overhaul, the updated Pixel Camera app also introduces several new features. These include improvements to RAW editing workflow, enhanced pro controls for advanced camera settings like shutter speed and ISO (available on Pixel 8 Pro devices only), and high-resolution 50MP photography for richer detail (also exclusive to Pixel 8 Pro).

During Google I/O in May, the company unveiled the rebranding of Pixel Camera, along with several other Pixel branded apps, including Pixel Call Assist, Pixel Speech (Recorder), and Pixel Safe. With this latest update, Google continues to enhance the camera capabilities of its Pixel devices, offering users a more versatile and user-friendly experience.
