Tired of those pesky telemarketers and robocalls messing up your day? Google’s Call Screening might just be your savior. Until now, this feature was only available on Pixel phones.

But, there’s some good news. The feature might be making its way to other countries, including India. The call screening feature on Pixel devices is pretty nifty. It transcribes and filters incoming calls, adding a layer of convenience and security to your life.

Right now, automatic call screening is only available in the US. Manual call screening, however, is known to be available in other countries. But, a Reddit post suggests that Google might be planning a wider release.

A Reddit user in India (via Android Police) managed to activate Call Screening on a modified OnePlus 7. The screenshots revealed Hindi transcription and response suggestions. These screenshots hint at a possible expansion of the feature to India and other regions. Plus, there’s the addition of new language support.

The additional languages spotted suggest more regions where Call Screening could eventually expand to. These include Deutsch for Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Espanol for the USA, French for Belgium, Switzerland, Italian for Switzerland & Italy, Portuguese for Brazil, and English, Hindi for India.

Remember, these are just speculations. But, they could possibly be in line to be revealed for the next Pixel Feature Drop, which is slated for March 2024. Currently, Call Screening works with the Pixel 5 up to the Pixel 8. These should be the same devices that should benefit from this feature should it expand to other countries.

Samsung has already introduced a call screening feature on its phones in India, known as Bixby Text Call. But, it only supports English and doesn’t include Hindi, which is widely spoken in the region. If Google goes ahead with Hindi support for Call Screening in India, it could pave the way for Call Screening to become more widely used globally.
