Full Story

Motorola handsets are set for a big upgrade next year. Lenovo China’s head of mobile devices, Chen Jin, has hinted at this on Weibo, China’s social-media platform.

According to Chen, Motorola’s 2024 smartphone line will have the processing power to handle AI-related tasks. This could mean that the 2024 Razr Plus might be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 application processor.

There’s more. The Razr Plus (2024) is also expected to get a “stunning” design overhaul. This follows last year’s changes to the clamshell foldable, which included a larger 3.6-inch external Quick View display on the Razr Plus (2023).

This external screen is so useful, you could probably keep the phone folded all day. Just use the external screen and you’d still have an enjoyable experience with the device.

The current Razr Plus (2023) is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. But if the next Razr Plus is to handle AI tasks without breaking a sweat, it’ll need a more capable application processor. Maybe something like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 AP.

Motorola’s likely to keep most of the current specs for next year’s Razr Plus (2024). This includes the 6.9-inch internal plastic OLED display with a 1080 x 2640 FHD+ resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. The phone also comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Right now, you can get the Razr Plus (2023) from Motorola for $699.99. That’s a $300 or 30% discount. You can choose from Infinite Black, Glacier Blue, Peach Fuzz, and Viva Magenta.

Finally, Chen says that Lenovo’s custom AI features will be found next year on all Motorola flagship phones, Moto G mid-range models, and the sequel to the Razr Plus. But remember, Chen might have been talking about the Chinese versions of these handsets.
