Samsung-owned Harman has recently made a new acquisition. They’ve scooped up Roon, a platform for music management, discovery, and streaming. This platform, a favorite among music enthusiasts, is compatible with all popular operating systems. It also produces a range of server appliances dubbed Nucleus.

In the announcement, it was clarified that Roon will continue to operate as a standalone business under Harman. So, no major changes for the employees, except they’re now part of a much larger company. Dave Rogers, President of the Lifestyle Division at HARMAN, expressed his excitement over the acquisition. He said, “At HARMAN we take great pride in our ability to create exceptional audio experiences for our partners and consumers around the world.”

He continued, “The team at Roon shares our passion in bringing exceptional sound and connectivity to music lovers as they browse, discover, and listen at home and on the go. We are looking forward to welcoming Roon, whose impressive talent will join the HARMAN family and bolster our already robust engineering capabilities.”

But there’s more. Harman has big plans for Roon’s open device ecosystem. They plan to expand it, which includes collaborations with over 160 other audio brands. This will deliver audio to more than 1,000 high-performance devices.

Roon’s ecosystem is versatile. It works with apps of major music streaming services and can stream to all your audio devices. It doesn’t matter if they’re on your network or connected via USB/HDMI. Got multiple audio devices? You can play a different song in every room.

And here’s the cherry on top. Thanks to Roon’s ARC app, you can manage your Roon library using your phone. And you can do it from anywhere.
