Full Story
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many people will be hitting the road to visit family. Google Maps is adding some new features to the app to help with your holiday travels. Even if you won’t be ready in time for Thanksgiving, you might still get a chance to try them out as you visit family through the end of the year.
Google Maps is updating transit directions to make it easier to find the best route to your destination based on factors like Estimated Time of Arrival, number of transfers, and the length of the trip. The app also has filters that allow you to customize your trip, such as selecting the type of transit you want to take, and reducing the amount of walking needed. In 80 cities worldwide, including Berlin, New York City, Tokyo, and more, Google Maps will show exactly where station entrances and exits are and provide a clear walking route to and from the station.
The list feature on Google Maps is also receiving an update that will allow you to share your location with friends, who can then suggest places to visit. You can vote on their suggestions with emojis, and the update will be rolling out globally in the coming weeks. Additionally, you’ll soon be able to add an emoji reaction to any photo, video, or review posted by the Google Maps community, using mashup reactions in some circumstances.
Google Maps is the most popular way to navigate while also providing valuable information on places to eat, stay, and be entertained. If you don’t have the app yet, you can install it on your Android or iOS device.
